So your favourite book is one filled with romance with inspiration on every page, but what if your favourite book isn’t traditionally one that relates to romance and weddings? We took Inspiration from childhood classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to show you that you can find inspiration in even the most unlikely of places.
In the heart of Nottinghamshire we found a brand new wedding venue The pumping house, it is the perfect Chocolate Factory. The building and the windows stunned on arrival and would immediately make your guest feel like they had found a golden ticket.
Bright candy colours, movie quotes and small sweet placements on the table will give your guests a nudge to the theme without it being over powered with obviously references. Champaign glasses with the rim dipped in chocolate and sprinkles is also a subtle and sweet reminder. When it came to the cake table we kept away from sweets but incorporated the same candy colours into the dripping icing and Donuts (Donuts are an up and coming wedding trend).
The bridal makeup was kept youthful with nude colours, playful buns finished with a bespoke slide and tiara that was made up of pastel Swarovski Pearls, brought the colour palette into the brides look , they also looked good enough to eat!.
As the evening reception arrives our bride changed from her stunning mermaid dress to a bridal jumpsuit, not only was this used to reflect Willy Wonkers suit but its also a great outfit for dancing and celebrating whilst still looking and feeling like a bride.
House Of Ollichon – 2nd Collection
I have been a long admirer of House of Ollichon so I was thrilled when Hannah, founder of House of Ollichon asked me to be the hair and makeup artist for her latest collection. 2 looks were created for each model to appeal to the more natural and quirky bride that her pieces attract.
If you are looking for an alternative for your wedding or a second outfit to easily dance the night away, check out the whole collection on the House of Ollichon website.

Festival Bride Photoshoot
My ideas always start with one singular element, in this case it was a Fazane Malik dress. Although the dress was originally designed to be worn with a slip I wanted to brides how to take a traditional dress and wear it with a twist.
In my first role as creative directer I brought together a (hand picked) collection of wedding professionals and created the festival bride photoshoot. When most people think festival, they imagine loud music and lots of mud and I wanted to embrace the natural side and think beyond the tents and mud.
I always think its a shame when brides barely touch their bouquet, especially after I’ve seen them gush over it when it arrived, for this reason I wanted our model Rebekah to remain close to the environment and wear plenty of flowers. I painted them on her back, we had a half head flower “crown” and we replaced a bouquet with a large corsage.
Both dresses were worn with a nude leotard underneath instead of a slip, this allowed the bride too look traditional with a modern twist. If you were getting married aboard this would also be a great way of looking and feeling like a traditional bride but remain cool in the sun.
A gold version of the dress was used to encourage brides to consider an outfit change for the evening, a great way of feeling like a good dance and a change of pace.
Makeup was kept soft with peach tones for the day, lifting the makeup with pink cheeks and lips for the evening. A gold line was popped under the eyes as a hint to the evening outfit.
